About The Left Handed Electric Guitars

You have definitely heard of electric guitars but are you aware what left handed electric guitars are? Is it a normal guitar turned upside down and putting the strings reversely? No. It can be an option for the south paw guitar players but it is going to be a huge sacrifice for the serious ones.
The reason is due to the pickup selectors and the volume and tone control knobs which act as a hindrance to the process of converting a right-handed guitar to a left-handed one. These switches are fitted very close to the bottom strings for easy access to the musician. The positioning is done to facilitate quick use of the controls while playing with the strumming hand. So if a right-handed guitar is restringed it won't be a systematic method of making a left-handed electric guitar.
What is the difference between a right-handed guitar and a left handed guitar? The strings are attached in the later in the reverse order to the former one. The fret board of the guitar is one right side of the guitarist and the playing hands also gets reversed. The strumming or the picking hand of a right-handed guitarist becomes the hand to press the notes on the fret board and vice-versa.
During some time back all lefty guitarists were encouraged to play right-handed guitars due to lack of availability. Moreover guitar books of chords were also not available. The matter was also was not given proper significance because guitar playing at the end involves both hands. There was a notion that irrespective of being a lefty or a right -handed player it is possible to gain all the necessary qualities on both hands.
Even today left-handed guitars are very rare to find. Only 25 years ago during the 1980s an original left-handed explorer was available. Among the top guitar manufacturers like Dean, Hammer and Gibson/Epiphone no one makes a left-handed explorer. So money won't be able to buy a brand new original explorer. The only company to make a closer version of the explorer is Gaskell. It is made in Australia with some alterations in the specification and has been suited to play a wide range of genres.
Because of the strong determination of the lefties today the market has responded and the guitar manufacturers are making left-handed guitars. But the scale of production of these guitars is insignificant as compared to the wide variety of right-handed guitars. There is no reason to be discouraged because an internet search will generate the name of a large number of sellers from where a lefty can choose his dream guitar.
However left-handed electric guitars are very expensive and are of selective choices. In many cases the shops does not keep left-handed guitars as the sale frequency is very less. Even the number of lefty guitarists is very small as compared to the huge number of right-handed guitarists.
But the lefties can always be inspired by the greatest rock guitar idol Jimi Hendrix who used to play a right-handed guitar being a lefty himself.
