Comments on do acoustic/electric guitars sound inferior to regular acoustic guitars?
I worked as a sound engineer for a number of years and I preferred broadcasting the sound from the acoustic/electrics. The sound was FAR superior to that of an externally amplified acoustic.
There has been lots of debate on this over the years and the consensus is that the addition of the electronics has no effect on an acoustic guitar’s sound. In other words, an unamplified acoustic electric sounds just as good.
Lester G is right.
The only thing, if you are purchasing a acoustic/electric you will pay more for a instrument equal in quality to a strictly acoustic.
Hey KitKat
An acoustic or an acoustic with built-in electronics does not affect the volume nor the quality of the sound.
Take Ovation, they are mostly all electric and sound the same, amplified or not.
Having said this, if the pick-up covers the sound hole a bit, YES, it will affecty the sound. Put your hand 1 inch from your mouth and talk and ask the listener which sounds letter.
Same principle when you block the sound hole of a guitar.
