Mountain Mirrors – “I Don’t Belong” (live)
mountainmirrors.com Here's a stripped down version of my song "I Don't Belong", from the Mountain Mirrors album "Dreadnought". I recorded it this morning in between the rain spells with my window open. You can hear the birds outside here and there flocking to Jenn's feaders during that dry break...it's all good. If you're into Pink Floyd or any kind of melancholy singer music (maybe Bon Iver/Jose Gonzalez/Beck's Sea Change etc.), please give it a spin. If you enjoy it, download the audio mp3 for free from www.mountainmirrors.com The guitar is a Yamaha FGX-413SC. I used an Audio-Technica 4047 mic into a Sebatron vmp-1000e tube preamp. I captured the audio into REAPER while filming with my Canon Powershot SD1100. Used a touch of PSP Vintage Warmer and Audio Damage EOS verb on the mix. Thanks for watching! Very Best Wishes, Jeff lyrics: Crazy's not the word for me Brain-dead and out of my head I'm alright - the world's wrong And everywhere I go, I feel... I don't belong Brainwashed, have no thoughts of my own Not free...they won't leave me be

Your lyrics really hit home. It’s like you know what’s inside me. I’m looking forward to hearing more.
That’s the placement and actual performance right there…the syncing is weak (I recorded into REAPER as I filmed this on my Canon Powershot and synced it later), so it might not seem it at times.
Alright, I was actually more wondering about your microphone placement, since I read that it isn’t easy at all to get the right mix of guitar and vocals with one microphone, and you seem to have placed it pretty well.
Yes. Just the Audio Technica 4047 SV as you see in the video. That’s all I used. It’s going through a Sebatron vmp-1000 preamp. All I processed the single track with was the PSP Vintage Warmer 2 and Audio Damage EOS reverb. That’s it.
Are you really just using one microphone to record your vocals and your guitar?
If so, i’d like to learn a bit more.
Thanks.
Confronting the darkness empowers me, and hopefully others.
Very dark my friend, do you have any empowering vibes? Nice quality though, thanks for your show.
awesoooommm!!!
This live acoustic performance is pretty sweet, would definitely love to see more live acoustic recordings if you’ve got them in the works.
